Niagara Falls Projects is pleased to present a two person exhibition by Sophie Barber and Georgia Hayes. NOT THE DEAD SPIT is conceived as a dialogue between two artists, at distinct stages of their respective careers, both invested in the object nature and allegorical potential of painting.

 

Sophie Barber (b.1996) lives and works in Hastings. In 2017 she received the Platform Graduate Award. Recent shows include: ‘That’ll Teach You’ (August 2016) Observer building, Hastings; Platform graduate award, (September 2017) De Le Warr, Bexhill; ‘Bird Paradise Dances Under Moon’ (July 2018) Solo show, Project 78 gallery, St Leonard’s.

 

Georgia Hayes (b.1946) lives and works in East Sussex. She was a student of Roy Oxlade from 19771982. She is represented by Paul Stolper Gallery, London and her work is held in several major collections including the British Art council collection. Recent exhibitions include; Birmingham Museum (group show) 2019; Paul Stolper (solo) London 2016; Touring Arts Council exhibition (group show) 2015-16, Sardac (solo), France, 2014; Threadneedle curated by Sacha Craddock (group show) 2014; Transition Gallery (solo), London 2013; Galeria National, Costa Rica (solo), 2006; Frederick Spratt Gallery,USA (solo) and selected for painting prize shows Mostyn 21 2019 and John Moores Painting 18 & 25.
